Starting at the age of 12, he has cleared many certified networking courses in CISCO and Microsoft. Also, early, in his 8th grade he conducted online training on CISCO, Microsoft, Juniper, Apple and Redhat courses. One can attend his paid courses at his website, www.avitechnohome.com. At 14, chancing upon the fact that one can join college then, he prepared the syllabi for 10, 11 and 12 standards and appeared for SRMEEE. When asked how he felt if and when people called him a

nerd, he answers nonchalantly that he isn’t one. “He doesn’t learn his subjects, rather learning is akin to playing”

says his friend Joshua, also from B.Tech, IT.

He also asserts that Avinash isn’t seen about with abook as is the notion in general. Cricket is his favourite sport and he loves playing the same. Fittingly, he uses a bicycle to move about in campus. When questioned on how it all started, he says it all just happened in the course of time. Nothing, he says, was thought afore. He acknowledges his parents for their support and encouragement. As for his future plans, not having given much thought, he considers becoming a scientist for India. Here’s singular talent.

Addressing the International Women’s Day celebrations at the SRM University at Kattankulathur, she said the UPA government, under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi, was committed to the passage of the Women’s Bill, providing for 33 per cent reservation in Parliament and State Legislatures. ‘ ’The Bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha. We will leave no stone unturned to ensure that the Bill is passed in Lok Sabha,’’ she said and added that 10 million women have been doing exceptional work in local bodies across India, and that women knew how to govern the country.Recalling the gangrape death of a paramedical student in a moving bus in New Delhi, the Minister said: “The Centre has suggested setting up of a dedicated women’s helpline ‘181’ across the country to lodge complaints of violence against women.” In a bid to reduce crimes against women, she also suggested an exclusive bus service for women, especially during the night, with adequate interior lighting and and provisions for operation between 7 pm and 7 am with women drivers. Calling for more women in the police force, Jayanthi Natarajan said of the total 16.6 lakh-strong police force, women constituted a mere 13.3 per cent (93,887). ‘’In the north-eastern State of Mizoram, there are no women police personnel at all, whereas in States like Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, the number of women police personnel is more,’’ she said. The Minister added that women were not the weaker sex, they were now working in various fields ranging from construction industry to space research. M Ponnavaikko, Vice Chancellor, SRM University, in his presidential address, said that women were the backbone of society. Awards were given to women achievers from the lower strata. Earlier, N Chandraprabha, Director, Health Sciences, welcomed the gathering.

Need of the hour for public welfare is quality healthcare-healthcare management seminar at SRM University in Kattankulathur, organised by Department of Community medicine

The need of the hour for public welfare is quality healthcare and easy access to it, said J. Radhakrishnan, secretary of the department of health and family welfare. Though several programmes were in place for the effective treatment of people suffering from communicable diseases, a great challenge for healthcare providers was the rise of new diseases along with new forms of existing diseases, not just in India, but all over the world, the secretary said on Wednesday. Stating that the focus should be on ‘cause management,’ the official said, local bodies across Tamil Nadu had done a wonderful job by initiating measures to prevent the outbreak of dengue. Mr. Radhakrishnan also stressed on the importance of ‘inter-sectoral cooperation’ — different departments and schemes like the highways, public works, local bodies and integrated child development services coming together to tackle problems related to communicable diseases. Mr. Radhakrishnan was speaking at the inauguration of a healthcare management seminar at SRM University in Kattankulathur, organised by its department of community medicine as part of a memorandum of understanding between the University and the School of Public Health and Community Medicine of New South Wales. T.R. Pachamuthu, chancellor of the University and Michael Carter, Australian trade commissioner, were among others who spoke on the occasion.
